The 3D World
2021 saw the addition of Nomad, a 3D sculpting app for iPad, that rekindled my love of 3D modeling after stepping away nearly 10 years ago. Between the ease of use of this incredible app, free desktop programs like Blender and the affordability of 3D Printers, it has opened new doors into creativity that were once reserved for a few rich folks with top of the line equipment.
All of the 3D projects on this page were made using solely Nomad in combination with Blender
3d Models
tests, Simulations, & Experiments
These are just a few examples of my venture into the 3d world of particle physics, effects and simulations inside of Blender .
Growing a Forest
An example of using modifiers, shader nodes, and geometry nodes to create this low poly example of a never ending forest.
“Here comes the Fuzz”
Using Blender and particle simulations, achieved a felt-like appearance for this characters clothing. I wanted him to look like a traditional hand crafted stop-motion puppet in the vein of the Rankin/Bass style.
Beep-Beep!
Trial run of a vehicle rig in Blender. Tested out constraints and driven shapes to streamline as much of the wheel movements as possible.
Lil’ Water World
Fluid simulation test for an upcoming idea using dynamic paint and particle collisions.
Burnin’ Down the Horse 🎶
A simulation test on my poor Zebra sculpture of fire and consumption done in Blender using material nodes, dynamic paint effects and particle simulations.
Not-so Purple Rain
Using Dynamic Paint and Particle Effects, I achieved this convincing simulation of falling rain.
Hypno-Sphere
A Blender test using Displacement maps in coordination with Dynamic Paint, Image Sequences, and some clever Material Nodes.
